Area Police
Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the liquid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.
A senior official stated the incident rendered him without words and required to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
